Match Report: Solihull Moors Women vs Halesowen Town (League Cup)

Solihull Moors Women progress into the next round of the League Cup following 3-0 win against Halesowen Town.

Both teams were eager to book their place in the next round of the League Cup. It was Moors who threatened first as Daina Scott’s strike forced the keeper to make a fine save, with the rebound drifiting narrowly wide.

Moments later, Moors broke the deadlock. A superb cross from Georgia Neath picked out Annie Highway, who calming slotted home from close-range.

As half-time apprached, another Neath cross was fired into the box, this time finding Nat Liput who met it with a composed finish, doubling Moors’ advantage before the break.

As the second half began, it didn’t take long before Moors came agonisingly close to adding a third when Lexi Blaxland’s effort from outside the box rattled the woodwork.

The visitors created a chance through and over ball forwards, but their efforts posed little threat to a well-organised Moors defence.

Moments before the final whistle, Highway’s strike from the edge of the box earned Moors a corner. She then found the net directly from the set piece, sealing a 3–0 victory.
