Match Report: Solihull Moors vs Leek Town
Solihull Moors Women secured back-to-back home victories as they scored six in an action-packed win over Leek Town.
Moors flew out of the blocks and took the lead just three minutes in. Annie Highway found Tiarna Grizzle on the wing, and she cut inside before firing a low shot into the bottom corner to give Moors an early advantage.
It wasn’t long before they doubled their lead. In the sixteenth minute, Grace Cheneler calmly dispatched a lofted ball from Highway. It marked Grace’s first senior goal for the club following stepping up from the Solihull Moors U18s this season.
Moors made it three after the twenty minute mark when Gina Burton tapped home from close range after another dangerous delivery from a Highway corner.
Half-time: Solihull Moors 3–0 Leek Town
The second half began much like the first, with Moors on the front foot. Five minutes after the restart, Humera Ashfaq punished the Leek defence, racing through on goal and slotting past the onrushing goalkeeper.
Leek Town continued to battle throughout, trying to create openings in the final third as they searched for a goal to reduce the deficit.
The fifth came courtesy of Beth Gallagher, who reacted quickest during a goalmouth scramble to ensure the ball crossed the line.
The sixth and final goal, arrived fifteen minutes from full time. Maz Redmond-Lyon picked up the ball on the edge of the box and struck it first time on the turn. Her effort flew under the crossbar, leaving the Leek goalkeeper with no chance and sealing an emphatic victory for Moors.
