Match Report: Solihull Moors vs Alvechurch

Solihull Moors Women secured all three points at home with 8-0 win to Alvechurch.

Both sides started brightly looking to make their mark on the game. Moors came close to finding the opener through Chloe Cumberbatch who rattled the bar with her powerful effort.

It wasn’t long before a ball from Zoe Millington soared over the visitor’s defence,  and found the feet of Tiarna Grizzle who calmly slotted it past the keeper breaking the deadlock.

Humera Ashfaq was believed to have been brought down in the box, resulting in a penalty for Moors. Ashfaq stepped up and confidently converted, extending the lead.

Ashfaq struck again before the half came to a close. A corner from Izzy Pioli hit off the far post, and fell for her to guide it into the net.

As the second half opened up, Alvechurch were pushing to close the gap, however it was Moors who extended their 2-0 lead. A cross-come shot from Cumberbatch found Ashfaq who headed home to complete her hat-trick.

With 15 minutes to go, Gina Burton unleashed a stunning strike from 20 yards out, firing the ball into the net. Pioli came close to adding another moments after, as her shot from outside the box was tipped over by Alvechurch’s keeper.

As the half started to draw to a close, a through ball from Diana Scott found Ashfaq, who slotted it into the bottom corner for her fourth of the afternoon. Shortly after, she added another, beating her defender before sliding the ball past the keeper.

Moments later, Ashfaq struck once more, in a similar fashion, stretching the Moors lead to seven.

In the final minute, Amelia Lightfoot’s corner, found Floss Chambers who headed home, leaving the final score 8-0.
