MATCH REPORT: SOLIHULL MOORS 1-3 PORT VALE

It was a disappointing weekend for Solihull Moors Women, as they suffered back-to-back 3-1 home defeats – this time losing to Port Vale Women at Mappableborough Green.

Having lost for the first time this season against Hednesford last Sunday, Harry O’Neill’s side were hoping to bounce back from their defeat.

And that almost seemed to be the case early into the first half, with Grace Chelener’s brilliant strike giving Moors the lead after four minutes.

However, Hollie Bailey brought the visitors back on level terms in the 25th minute before another goal six minutes later from Eva Tankard ensured the Valiants were in front going into half-time.

Vale kept pushing for more goals throughout the second half, and their pressure was rewarded thanks to Madison Furvinal’s perfect late finish that secured an excellent turnaround and back-to-back wins for Garry Pearce’s side.

Solihull now sit 7th following their second successive defeat, leaving them level on six points with Coundon Court who are currently above them on goal difference.

The Valiants by contrast, are now two places ahead in 5th – just three points off last weekend’s opponents Hednesford Town who currently lead the way at the top of the West Midlands Regional League.
