Match Report: Shrewsbury Town vs Solihull Moors

Despite a strong performance, Solihull Moors Women were narrowly beaten 1–0 away to Shrewsbury Town.

Moors came into the game in search of a win following Tuesday night’s result and made a positive start. However, it wasn’t long before Zoe Millington was called into action, producing a fantastic save to deny Shrewsbury an early opener.

The hosts were later awarded a penalty after a challenge in the box, and Alicia Robinson stepped up to calmly convert from the spot, giving Shrewsbury the lead.

As the first half drew to a close, Eva Buckley delivered a dangerous ball into the box, but Phoebe Carter reacted well to claim it. Moments later, Steph Weston did well to lose her marker and fired an effort from the edge of the area, but the Shrewsbury goalkeeper made the save to preserve the lead.

Moors started the second half brightly and soon created a chance to level the score, with Humera Ashfaq striking from the edge of the box, though her effort drifted wide.

At the other end, Millington was called into action again, producing a brilliant save to deny Katie Doster what looked to be a certain goal.

Moors continued to push for an equaliser and came close once more when Gina Burton headed narrowly wide from a corner.
