Match Report: Shifnal Town vs Solihull Moors
Points Shared at the Acoustafoam Stadium as Solihull Moors Draw with Shifnal Town.
Moors opened the scoring after twenty-eight minutes as Georgia Neath pinched the ball on the halfway line, dribbled past the on rushing Shifnal keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net with help of the post.
Before half time, Moors carved out the opportunity to double the lead as Steph Weston took the ball past the opposition keeper but the Shifnal defender was there to prevent the shot.
HT: Shifnal Town 0-1 Solihull Moors
Shifnal got themselves level early on into the second half as Rebecca-Lee Bown was played through on goal and dispatched a low shot into the bottom corner.
The score remained level for only eight minutes as a wonderfully worked play saw Humera Ashfaq lay the ball off to Neath down the right, who cut it across goal for Weston to fire the ball into the back of the net.
The lead did not last long, as on the sixty-fourth minute mark, Jenna Boddison clawed the hosts level again through a misplaced pass which meant the striker was one on one with Zoe Millington. Boddison made no mistake and slotted the ball into the back of the net.
It was two goals in quick succession for the hosts as Boddison was there again just two minutes after her first to tap home a ball which was put across the face of goal to give Shifnal the lead.
In the 77th minute Beth Gallagher whipped a dangerous ball into the box from a corner which forced the opposition keeper to push the ball away and to fall into the path of Gina Burton who guided it onto the underside of the crossbar then over the line, making it level once more.
As the game started to draw to a close, Grace Cheneler had the opportunity to seal all three points for Moors as she rounded the keeper but again the Shifnal’s defence got there to make a brilliant block, leaving the scoreline to remain even at the full-time whistle.
