Match Report: Rugby Borough vs Solihull Moors (County Cup)
Solihull Moors Women exit the Birmingham County Cup following defeat to tier 3 side Rugby Borough.
Despite the rainy conditions, both teams started brightly looking to make their mark on the game. However, it was Rugby who found the opener when a powerful strike was tipped onto the crossbar by Rubi Dawson, but the hosts reacted quickly and tapped in the rebound.
Rugby soon doubled their lead, with a well-placed finish at the face of the goal, before almost adding a third but Dawson confidently gathered the ball.
Moors worked hard to limit the hosts’ opportunities, as Amelia Lightfoot and Floss Chambers continued to close down space and keep Rugby’s attackers under pressure.
As the half progressed, Rugby were looking for another and regained possession from a goal kick, firing home a fantastic effort to extend their lead.
Just before the break, Dawson once again produced a superb save, though the hosts were able to convert from the rebound to make it 4-0 heading into half-time.

Although Rugby added another two, Moors continued to battle with determination for every ball until the final whistle, with Nat Liput shutting down their chances.
