Match Report: Port Vale vs Solihull Moors
Solihull Moors Women looked to end the season on a high against Port Vale, but a goal in each half gave the hosts all three points.
Moors made a bright start and carved out an opportunity just three minutes in, as Georgia Neath did well to lose her marker and let her shot flyer towards goals, but was unable to find the target.
Another chance followed soon after, as Humera Ashfaq played a wonderful through ball to a Neath but from a tight angle she could only find the side netting.
Approaching the twenty minute mark, the hosts created their first opportunity of the game, with their attacker finding some space in the middle of the box to shoot but Zoe Millington produced a strong save to deny the effort and any rebound.
Moors continued to press, and Eva Buckley came close around the forty minute mark, striking the woodwork from a difficult angle before the ball went out for a corner.
On the stroke of half-time, a corner for the hosts saw Sophie Bwalya curl a corner into the box which found the back of the net, giving them the lead before the break.

TAs the second opened up, Sian McHugh’s volley from inside the box nestled in the bottom corner, doubling Port Vale’s advantage early.
Moors worked hard to try and get back into the game and nearly reduced the deficit, as Morgan Reeves drove into the box and unleashed a powerful effort, forcing and excellent save from Niyah Short.
Moments later, Poppy Johnston-Smith forced another save from Short, which prevented Moors from scoring a prserved the hosts clean sheet at the final whistle.
Despite the fantastic efforts of all in yellow and blue, Moors were unable to claw back the game, and all three points stayed in Stoke.
