Match Report: Hednesford Town vs Solihull Moors
Solihull Moors Women picked up their first point of the season yesterday as they faced a tough Hednesford Town side.
Even with the downpour of rain before kick-off, both teams started out positively, looking to make an impression on the game. Moors were looking to take the lead, with a driving run from Tiarna Grizzle putting the hosts under pressure early on.
Forward, Humera Ashfaq, broke through on goal but her effort was denied by Hednesford’s goalkeeper.
Not long after, Grizzle won the ball outside the box and unleashed a stunning strike 18 yards out, firing the ball home, leaving the Pitmen’s keeper helpless.

As the second half opened up, Moors continued to push for a second. Neath won the ball and played through to Ashfaq whose shot forced another fine save from Hednesford’s keeper.
Just minutes later, following some pinball football, the ball fell to the feet of Ashfaq who calmly slotted it home to double Moors’ lead.
As the half started to draw to a close, Hednesford were believed to have been fouled in the box, giving them a penalty, to which Leigh Dugmore stepped up and converted to pull one back.
Moments later, the hosts drew level when Ria Elsmore ran through on goal and fired a low ball past Zoe Millington.
A chance opened up for Moors in the final minute as Grizzle sprinted down the left, passing to Marsha Malik who tapped it to Ashfaq, but her shot was narrowly wide of the post, leaving the score level at full time and the points to be shared at Keys Park.
