Match Report: Burton Albion vs Solihull Moors

Solihull Moors Women fought back to earn a dramatic point in a rain-soaked clash with Burton Albion yesterday.

Despite the testing conditions, both teams started out positively and determined to make their mark on the game. However, it was Burton who came closest to finding the opener early on.

Moments later , Georgia Neath’s cross found Humera Ashfaq, only for her efforts to be blocked by Burton’s defence.

As the half began to draw to a close, the hosts struck first, as Milie Drinkhall unleashed a long-range shot over that sailed over Zoe Millington and into the net.

With the second half underway, Moors pushed for the equaliser, but it was Burton who doubled their lead, courtesy of Elisha Gourlay, who directed Farrah Hoyle’s cross into the goal.

The Brewers then extended their lead, as Adela Qose broke through on goal and fired a low ball past Millington.

Moors responded swiftly, with a corner whipped in by Amelia Lightfoot, slotting past Burton’s keeper, to pull a goal back, before Maz Redmond-Lyon produced a moment of brilliance. The ball presented itself perfectly for her to hit on the half volley, sending it soaring over the hosts keeper and smashing the back of the net.

With minutes to go, a corner caused chaos in the box and fell to the feet of Flossie Chambers who tapped it home, leaving the score level at full-time and securing Moors another point on the road.

FT: Burton Albion 3-3 Solihull Moors
