Match Report: Alvechurch vs Solihull Moors Women (League Cup)
A dramatic penalty shootout victory saw the Moors book their place in the League Cup semi-final after a thrilling encounter with Alvechurch.
Alvechurch started the game strongly and took the lead just two minutes into the first half. Molly Bubb found space on the edge of the box and calmly placed her effort into the bottom corner past Zoe Millington in the Moors net.
Despite enjoying the majority of possession, Moors were unable to find an equaliser before the break. Their best opportunity came when Annie Highway’s strike was pushed away by the Alvechurch goalkeeper into the path of Lexi Blaxland, whose header looked destined for the net before Darcy Fortner reacted quickly to deny the leveller.

The second half saw the Moors begin to turn their dominance into chances. Just seven minutes after the restart, Annie Highway produced a moment of quality to level the game. Losing her marker on the edge of the area, she unleashed a superb strike that flew into the top corner.
The turnaround was completed barely a minute later. Captain Daina Scott reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and thundered a shot into the bottom corner to give the Moors the lead.
However, there was late heartbreak as Alvechurch clawed their way back into the game in the dying moments, with Maddison Miles firing home an equaliser right at the death.
