Match Preview: Solihull Moors vs Stourbridge Town

Solihull Moors Women kick-off their 2026/27 West Midlands Regional League campaign this weekend with the visit of Stourbridge to the Beehive on Sunday, August 16 (ko 3 pm).

Harry O’Neill’s side welcome the Glassboys for his first competitive fixture in charge of the Moors, with his former club making the trip to Mappableborough Green for the first meeting between the sides since April 2023.

And he will be keen to build on the success delivered by Joe Kirkland during an impressive campaign last time out, where Solihull scored a record-breaking 61 goals and kept 11 clean sheets with just 43 goals conceded, all of which culminated in an impressive 5th place finish whilst also reaching the semi-finals of the League Cup.

THE OPPOSITION

An underwhelming 11th place finish in their previous campaign saw Stourbridge relegated from the FA Women’s National League, ending an incredible rise through the women’s pyramid before maintaining their league status for three straight seasons.

The Glassboys will now be looking to bounce back at the first attempt under new boss Beck Knight, who replaced Meg Bailey during the summer and has wasted no time in preparing her squad for the new season.

Key additions include Keeley Crew, Shaina Payne, Sumreena Gill, Dani-Jo Gliding and Lana Timson, as well as the returns of Bek Howell, Kate Martin and Chiara Stokes.

TEAM NEWS

O’Neill will be looking to hand debuts over to new signings Ruby Hill, Hollie Deavs, Kiera Newell, Eloise Harris, Molly Bubb, Elle McGovern and Darcy Fortner ahead of their first competitive game for the Moors, having been impressed with their performances during pre-season despite a 3-2 defeat in their most recent outing against Sutton Coldfield Town.

Likewise, Beck Knight will give debuts to her latest additions following a promising pre-season for the Glassboys, with Crew and Martin grabbing a goal each while Olivia Ashfield and Mollie-Mai Summers also adding to the scoresheet in a 4-2 victory over Walsall.
