MATCH PREVIEW: SOLIHULL MOORS VS STOURBRIDGE (ADOBE WOMEN’S FA CUP)
Solihull Moors Women are back in action this weekend as they welcome Stourbridge to the Beehive in the second qualifying round of the 2026/27 Adobe Women’s FA Cup on Sunday, September 20 (ko 3pm).
Following a 1–1 draw away at Leek Town in their last league game, Harry O’Neill’s side now turn their attention towards improving on last season’s cup campaign under Joe Kirkland, where they reached the first round proper.
THE OPPOSITION:
Since their 3-1 defeat at Mappableborough Green on the opening day of the season, there has been little improvement in Stourbridge’s league form so far.
Beck Knight’s side sit 10th and hover just above the rele in the West Midlands Regional League, having only accumulated only three points across their first five games – these coming from a 4-2 victory at Lichfield City.
LAST TIME OUT IN THE ADOBE WOMEN’S FA CUP:
Moors started last year’s run with a 2-1 victory at Shifnal Town in the second round qualifying, before recording another emphatic win on the road with a 5-0 dismantling of Basford United in the following round to book their place in the first round proper.
However, they would be up against a more difficult challenge as they were drawn to face West Bromwich Albion of the third tier.
This proved to be a step too far as the Baggies ran out 3-0 winners courtesy of goals from Marli Rhodes and Zoe Creaney, and an unfortunate own goal from Jess Keeling, ending a remarkable journey during Kirkland’s final season in charge.
Likewise, the Glassgirls experienced a similar cup run under previous manager Meg Bailey. A enthralling 5-2 win at Melbourne Dynamos was later followed by another impressive victory on their travels, winning 3-1 at Lincoln United. They were unfortunately then put to the sword by Hull City, losing 7-1 at home in the second round proper.
TEAM NEWS:
O’Neill will be looking to put out a strong team ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup game. Gina Burton, who scored against Stourbridge on the opening day, was impressive once again with another goal to her tally against Leek – a real threat the Glassgirls will be need to be aware of.
Meanwhile, Beck Knight will be hoping that this competition will be a nice distraction away from the disappointing start to their league campaign. They display an attacking threat through Keeley-May Crew, who scored a brace in their previous outing at Knowle, as well as Olivia Arnold who was involved in their six goal thriller victory at Lichfield.
